The Perry Initiative featured at Engineering Cool Stuff Camp at Univ Delaware

The Perry Initiative was featured at the 2011 Engineering Cool Stuff Camp at the University of Delaware, July 11-15 and July 18-22. These week-long camps are hosted by the University of Delaware College of Engineering and target 12-16 year old boys and girls.

One day each week, students heard a lecture on Orthopaedic Biomechanics from Dr. Jenni Buckley, the Perry Initiative Co-Founder and Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at University of Delaware. They were then given a challenging task – to complete two mock orthopaedic surgeries in a row! Students fixed a broken tibia with an external fixator and also repaired a complex shoulder fracture. Both exercises were modules from The Perry Initiative’s new hands-on curriculum.

Footage of the event will be posted on this website shortly.

The Perry Initiative welcomes requests for use of its curriculum in the classroom and as part of established summer camps. Contact us for more details.
